Annie’s Recipe: Gelatin Flower Cake

- Pan on the stove with a warm water bath to keep gelatin from setting up.
Ingredients
- 8 Tbsp gelatin powder
- 6 Tbsp cold water
- 4 Cup full cream milk
- 1 1/2 Cup sugar
- Food flavoring colors (red, green, yellow), coca or dark chocolate powder
- 30 ounces sweetened condensed milk.
Instructions
Clear gelatin top layer
- 4 cups water
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 Tbsp powdered gelatin add additional 1 cup cold water.
- Mix together the gelatin and 1 cup of cold water and leave to absorb the water.
- Place the 4 cups water, sugar into a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved.
- Stir through the gelatin until it dissolves and then pour into container and leave in the fridge to set.
Milk based gelatin for the pattern.
- 4 tablespoons gelatin
- 1 cup water
- 30 ounces sweetened condensed milk.
- Full cream milk adds to the sweetened condensed milk to make a total of 4 cups liquid.
- Food flavoring colors (Red, green, yellow) & cocoa powder or dark chocolate to make brown.
- Mix together the gelatin and 1 cup of cold water and leave to absorb the water.
- Heat the sweetened condensed milk and milk in a saucepan until it just starts to boil. Remove from heat and stir through the gelatin until it is melted. Split into 3 smaller bowls to color and 2 big bowls for 2 layers white and brown. If the mixture sets before you’re ready to use it – remelt in the microwave or on the stovetop.
- Get the clear gelatin out of the refrigerator. Cut a small circular hole in the middle of the top of the set clear gelatin.
- Pour some of the colored gelatin base into a small bowl or glass. Color it with food coloring.
- Using a syringe and a needle and flower tips, inject the colored gelatin into the clear gelatin base and designs color flowers.
- Keep the colored gelatin warm in the water bath while you are creating with other colors. You don’t want the gelatin too hot or too cold. Also having boiling water in a couple other cups in the water bath is good to clean the needles and syringes when needed so they don’t get clogged.
- Fill the bottom with another layer of Milk gelatin layer after that chocolate gelatin layer and leave in the fridge to set.
- Flip the gelatin cake upside down and release from the mold onto a plate.
