KindWorks

KindWorks (formerly MoverMoms) focuses on doing Kind Works related to poverty, hunger, the environment, health, emergency relief, and tolerance. By making it easy for families to participate in volunteer projects, we hope to make service a part of our daily routines, model good civic behavior for our children, have a direct impact in improving the lives of thousands in our community, and promote cross-cultural understanding. We believe that by bringing people together as a group, not only can we learn from and inspire one another, but we can have a much more profound impact.

Luke’s Wings

Luke’s Wings was founded in 2008 after learning that the government only provides a very limited number of flights for loved ones to be bedside after a service member is injured. This is where Luke’s Wings steps in to fill the gap for the months and years ahead.

Families are completely on their own to travel back and forth between their everyday lives and their new reality. Luke’s Wings provides complimentary airfare to wounded, ill, and injured service members, veterans, fallen officers, and their loved ones keeping these families connected during recovery and rehabilitation. These flights bring mental, physical, emotional, and financial support, empowering wounded service members to overcome challenges they face every step of the way.

The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC), operated by the Office of Animal Services,  provides high-standard sheltering and care to the homeless, abused, and neglected animals in our community and ensures the safety and welfare of the county’s citizens. We are the county’s only open-admissions, municipal shelter.

The Center’s doors are open to all animals in need from dogs and cats to farm animals, wildlife, and exotics.  Trained staff provide animals with daily care, mental and physical enrichment, health and wellness checks, and more.  Through adoptions, spay and neuter assistance, vaccination clinics, education and outreach, the Center serves as a critical community resource to promote and advocate for responsible pet care.  With community support and partnerships with other animal-welfare groups, our Foster, Rescue and Volunteer programs enhance and save the lives of even more homeless animals.

Animal Services Officers are on-call seven days a week to investigate citizen complaints and respond to animal emergencies 24 hours a day.  These calls include animal-related matters such as: animal abuse and neglect; law enforcement; calls regarding stray, rabid, or aggressive animals; and sick or injured wildlife.
